Tulin Tezel is an award winning documentary filmmaker. Tulin, who has a very strong visual memory and perception, is professionally interested in many fields of visual arts. She has worked as an assistant director and radio programmer in various private channels throughout her education life. After graduating from two different universities in the field of communication in Türkiye, she went to Toronto, Canada in 2012. Spending a year in Toronto was a very valuable experience for Tulin. She had the opportunity to participate in festivals such as TIFF, Hot Docs, Reelworld Film Festival, Toronto’s Animation Festival, and worked as a volunteer at the festivals. She also had the chance to attend classes as a guest student at York University and the University of Toronto. Thus, she exchanged ideas with people from different parts of the world who spoke the same language professionally and gained new experiences.

She returned to Turkiye after a year of rich knowledge and experience she gained in Toronto. She gave lessons about filmmaking to middle and high school students in private schools in order to convey her experiences and enlighten the way of young people who are interested in filmmaking. Then, she started working at Al Jazeera. The experience she gained from the filmmakers she met at Al Jazeera is still one of the most important points in Tülin’s career. During her time at Al Jazeera, she started working as an assistant, then as a documentary producer and director. Filling her saddlebag with the experiences she gained under the roof of this institution, she started to work at TRT World which is Turkiye’s first international English-language channel, in 2015. Tezel worked in many departments as being part of the constituent team of TRT World. She currently works as Senior Producer in TRT World and is responsible for the documentary team in the Digital Department. Tülin, who continues to work in the field without a break and even feeds on this spiritually, undertakes her own projects from scriptwriting to editing, and also follows the documentary works made by her team.

Tulin Tezel was born in 1988 in Istanbul. And she is the mother of a very beautiful girl named Efnan.
